Children say the funniest things...

I just had to blog this morning about some of Helen's notable quotes yesterday.

After homework time she settled into drawing at the bar while I cooked dinner. She proudly displayed her pages on our fridge and asked me what I thought of them. Of course I told her they were lovely. She says, " I think I know what I want to be when I grow up. I want to be an artist." I said that sounded great and that I thought she was already a fantastic artist.

"Nah." She says. "I can't make perfect cats and dogs yet."

LOL.

Then this morning, while squeezed into the center of our king size bed, she tells me she'd like to stay home today. No I tell her. Please she begs and spouts off a million little reasons why staying cozy right where we are is much more preferable than Kindergarten. We get up and get going. On the way to McDonald's she overhears my conversation with Momma about how close our cousin Allison is to delivering. Today is the day for a new baby in our family.

Helen promptly exclaims, "Momma I have to stay home now. If having a baby isn't a good excuse to miss school then what is?"

She also requested this morning that I buy her some silly bandz bracelets which have caused a craze in kindergarten over the last week. I'm hunting them down online this morning before wrapping up the ironing.

I'm checking on what type of cookies to bring to her school party on Friday as well. I think owl cookies would be a hoot. Don't you? :)

Hopefully there is some scrapbook time waiting for me today. We'll see...
